The Muscular System Zone in the Zone Technique
The muscular zone is one of six zones in the Zone Technique. Dr. Pete Goldman developed the Zone Technique from the Zone Therapy that Dr. Thurman Fleet created in 1931. Each zone is named after a body system, and this one takes its name from the muscles, tendons and connective tissue that move and support you.
Because muscles and joints are what chiropractic care treats, this is the zone where Zone Technique and your regular adjustments overlap most.
How This Zone Fits Into Your Visit
In Zone Technique, the muscular zone is one of six areas Dr. Warwick checks as part of a whole-body assessment. What he finds helps him decide where to adjust. It’s one input alongside a standard neuromusculoskeletal exam, not a stand-alone diagnosis.

Zone 5 - The Muscular System
- Help restore range of motion and movement
- Ease muscle tension and stiffness
- Improve suppleness and flexibility
What We Don’t Claim
We don’t claim Zone Technique improves strength or athletic performance, or that it treats dizziness. Dizziness, balance problems or muscle weakness without an obvious injury can have medical causes, so see your medical provider about them. Call 911 for sudden weakness or numbness on one side of the body.
What Patients Often Notice
Muscle and joint problems are squarely what chiropractic care is for. When adjustments and soft-tissue work ease a stiff, painful area, many patients notice:
- Less stiffness and muscle tension
- Better flexibility and range of motion
- More comfortable movement day to day
Recent, uncomplicated back or neck pain often improves within 1–4 visits. Sciatica usually takes 6–8, and car or work injuries 8–12 or more. These are typical ranges from our practice, not guarantees.
What the Research Says
Zone Technique hasn’t been tested in clinical trials the way spinal adjustment has. Dr. Warwick uses it as a structured way to assess you and plan your adjustments, alongside a standard exam.
The muscular zone is where Zone Technique and everyday chiropractic care overlap most: easing tension and helping you move better.

It’s one of six zones in the Zone Technique, which Dr. Pete Goldman developed from Dr. Thurman Fleet’s 1931 Zone Therapy. 2. Can chiropractic care help muscle tension and stiffness?
Often, yes. Muscles and joints are what chiropractic care treats. Dr. Warwick combines adjustments with soft-tissue work, and massage where it suits you, to ease tension and help restore movement.
3. Does Zone Technique improve strength or athletic performance?
We don’t claim that. Easing pain and stiffness can make it easier to stay active, but Zone Technique isn’t a performance treatment. Dizziness or unexplained weakness can have medical causes, so see your medical provider about them.
