Did you know that chronic low back pain accounts for about a third of work related disability? It’s clearly a major issue that needs to be dealt with, so identifying certain strategies to combat the condition is just one way we can do this.
There are many ways that one can manage chronic back pain, icing on a daily basis, stretching exercises, yoga and many other things that can help keep the pain at bay. But chiropractic care has shown to be one of the best ways to combat the problem and provide patients with a better quality of life.
Consider this case study…
Chronic back pain sufferers were put into three separate groups.
Each group received some treatment over a month period.
The first group was exposed to a sham chiropractic treatment.
The second group received 12 high thrust adjustments during a month month period, and then treatment stopped.
The third group received the same treatment as the second group, but with additional adjustments, and the treatment was also extended to a period of 9 months.
The first group, as expected, experienced no benefits at all, while the second group experienced some positive benefits. Of course, the third group experienced continued benefits as their pain was managed over a longer period of time showing that appropriate chiropractic care is beneficial, especially to chronic back pain sufferers.
It is interesting to note that this study was done by a couple of medical doctors, and was published in the publication, Spine.
Subsequent studies also back up chiropractic care as an effective means to manage and treat back pain conditions.
